The Skyvan had its origins in the Miles Aerovan, the concept of which was taken on by Short in a radically overhauled design. The high aspect ratio SC.7 Skyvan prototype flew with Continental piston engines, but it was decided that turboprop power was required, so the prototype and early production (Series 2) examples were ultimately fitted with Astazou II turboprops. These engines were not ideal for hot-and-high conditions or American customers, however, so the Series 3 was upgraded to the specified Garrett type. Hello,
I would like to get information as to where to source Skyvan parts.

fernandp paternina, e-mail, 19.05.2014 21:02

We have been in business for 54 years now, focused almost exclusively on the TPE331 series of turboprop engines. National Flight is the only Honeywell Authorized Service Center to offer a 5 year warranty on all of our engine work, which has turned out to be a great value to our loyal customers. We also boast the only Honeywell Authorized Component Shop in the world, which allows us to accomplish our quick turnaround time much more easily. In fact, many of our competitors send us the components from the engine jobs they are working on! National Flight Services also has 1 of only 2 Woodward Fuel Control Shops in the world, the 2nd being Honeywell themselves. With over $3.5m dollars in TPE331 parts inventory, you can also rest assured that should a problem arise with one of your engines, we will be able to deliver whatever is needed to keep your aircraft flying.

Sven. (THE Sven), 16.02.2013 01:28

Just in case anyone thinks I left the comment about the more streamlined nose. It wasn't me!
A good aeroplane with a history that goes back to some other great aircraft.

AYIED ALAHMADI, e-mail, 15.02.2013 23:52

there are four storage SC-7 is going for sale soon. they are base in Saudi Arabia. Serial smadav pro.

Kelly Wellington, e-mail, 17.10.2012 18:53

Yes..Airfix made a model of the SC-7, now OOP.
For those who want a more pointed nose (aerodynamic) and a longer range, I suggest you look into the Short Sherpa.

Jim Kreinhop, e-mail, 06.08.2012 02:56

I waqs flown a couple of times in the Skyvan from Cape Romanzoff to Bethel, AK in 1974-75. I believe it was Wien Airlines.

Have flown both formerly BAW Transport and still flying passanger version of the type (OH-SBA) as well as the FAR 23 freighter version (OH-SBB). OH-SBA is still in a very active (Aalto University) role, so if anybody has any information of awailable parts, pls inform me asap. About Take-Off and Landing performance details I have both actual and Factory estimated(prior certification)numbers. If you have any further questions /info, tell me PLEASE!

Now, THAT'S how a plane should look. Would prefer more pointed-streamlined nose and more range, 450kms is a bit, er, short, perhaps one could mount some extra tanks in the roofline if the load allows, 900kms would be brill, saving much time. Small but load-worthy planes like this are very practical, they can fly-in-and-out of just about anywhere, making it the Transit of the skies.

T. Morrison, e-mail, 26.09.2010 20:17

Does anyone have a model of the SC7?. I would be interested in buying one.
